Bauer maintains its focus on puck handling and quick release shots in the Vapor X900 stick. In order to optimize the load and recoil energy in the lower part of the shaft, Bauer has re-engineered the flex profile to include an aggressive taper that they are referring to as their QRT (Quick Release Taper) Technology. This technology replaces the dual flex zone Intelli-Sense Flex Technology that was featured in the previous Vapor models like the APX, APX 2 and the X100 - the predecessor to the X900.
Unlike the higher end 1X, which is a true one-piece stick, the X900 uses a more traditional fused construction. Bauer uses a visible premium lightweight 12k woven carbon fiber in the shaft of the Vapor X900 because it is better at managing stress than 3k woven carbon fiber, which is very often found in high end composite sticks. The Micro Feel II shaft profile is unchanged and has rounded corners and double-concave walls which allows the shaft to fit comfortably into your hands, resulting in easier puck handling and superior control. The X900 is available in a nice matte finish, or with the Griptac finish but is only available as a senior offering.
With the exception of the wrap, the X900 shares the same blade construction as the higher end 1X. It features Bauer's AERO-SENSE 2 technology. This is a complex lightweight combination of a dual density AERO FOAM 3 core and an evolved SENSE layer that work together to dampen vibration and improve durability. Durability stitches create excellent adhesion between the core, the SENSE layer and the visible 12k carbon fiber blade wrap. Additionally, this entire Vapor line includes Bauer's Pure Shot Blade Profile which is that visible expanded throat design that reduces the amount of blade deflection or the twisting / opening of the blade while shooting. The end result of all this is a blade that is balanced and durable yet offers excellent feel, playability and performance.
